No Rest for Wicked…

This was originally going to be a continuation of the Skulls commentary, having almost put that to bed with something I’ll talk about in a minute, but between working on that, my book layout, mock ups, meetings, and mayhem (RPG related)… I’m a little tired so I’m not going too deep into the brain dive.

Don’t applaud too loudly.

After trying to do as little as possible on Friday after an insanely busy week (see previous blog), Saturday was a full day and a little bit emotionally exhausting. Using the bit of feedback from the Skulls Mentor night, I decided to give the ole using my own handwriting thing a try and boy was that fun in a not at all fun way.

Let’s be clear, it wasn’t exactly fun to type all those things to begin with, never mind looking for different insults when I was coming up dry, but then committing them to paper with my own hand was… not great. Weirdly enough by the time I had scanned things in and started working on typesetting and placement I was either disassociated and/or just numbed enough to the entire thing to get to work and get it done.

Conveniently obscured for yours and my benefit!

This entire project is almost done except a reshoot and final editing, however all the written work is done so it is almost ready to be handed in and hopefully I’ll find some peace from this… but wait there’s more.

I started trying to finalise my mockup for my book, starting with getting a layout sorted out for the image sequence.

Image sequence subject to change… or not… I don’t know yet.

Once this was done I made a low resolution print out based on dimensions if what will hopefully be the final design, and after some printing teething issues due to still learning a program, I got all the pages and guillotines them and started sticking them together…

Aren’t you a little small for a large landscape book?

… unfortunately I ran out of paper glue with only a few sheets to go and because I’m broke/impatient/lazy/all of the above, I just grabbed some multipurpose glue and slapped the rest together with not so great results.

*not included in Final Design

Honestly I’m not that bothered, and am slightly bemused, as it’s just a mockup so I can get an idea of how it looks, if the layout works or not, if the image sequencing works, etc. I’m still a ways away from printing but it will need to come together by at least the next two months, and as far ahead as I might be it feels like I’ll need to work out the kinks if I want to create something I’m proud of.
