Failure is Always An Option

A phrase made infamous by Adam Savage during the original run of Mythbusters, this was the title for my black and white folio assessment last year. The brief was we had to produce fifteen black and white images that had a sequence or narrative flow, so I decided to produce a work based on my experiences as a commission based prop builder and some of the more negative aspects of the job.

This took a lot of work from planning, shot list, material gathering, shooting, post, printing, fixing, reprinting, arranging, reshooting, reprinting, critiquing, and not to mention presenting the work itself… but am I happy with it?

I think my concept was better than my execution, but on reflection I’m not sure it was strong enough for the project itself. One of the biggest hurdles was having to deal with specifically fifteen images, no leeway on that, so planning shots around that was a logistical nightmare at times, especially with a brain that wants things to be in a neat orderly sequences with a beginning/middle/end with equal shots.

Presented below and also available in the Portfolio section.
