Salon Selection
So for those that may not have read my previous blog post ‘Salon Mentoring’, as part of my photography career I was “encouraged” by a lecturer to enter a new WA based photography competition. As part of that competition it offered a Mentoring session where you could get two pieces of your work evaluated and given advice and critique, go read the other post if you want to see how that went.
As previously mentioned there were 100 spots open for the exhibition that “opened” last night at the foyer of the Central Park building in the Perth CBD, and I calculated that with over 300 images submitted that gave me a rough 1/3 chance of one of my images making it to the wall.
So how did I do?
If you want to look for it during the week that it is up, my number is #17 and is near the entrance but on a wall that’s not entirely visible from it. As far as I’m aware there is no significance to the numbers beyond placement within the exhibition, all the award winners are spread throughout, but I mention it for relative ease as we circled round the floor twice and missed it both times.
I’m proud of the work and I’m truly humbled by the inclusion, however part of me was sad that there wasn’t more of my classmates work on display as I think some of their work is phenomenal., that being that the amount of quality there was breathtaking and I might make another trip in after class to take in the images again. If anything I might have to try and up my game next time, but sadly if is never that easy.
Big thanks to my Clue family for making me a part of that fantastic run for which this image would have never have happened, and an extra special thank you to Amanda for putting up with my anxiety and being an anchor for me on the night.
